Township Newsletter: Planning and Zoning

Hello and happy July!

First of all, what a storm!  We were fortunate that the worst of the storm seems to have missed our township, but our hearts go out to those whose property and homes were very damaged. If you are still looking for storm-related cleanup info, please see our Facebook page or the Announcements on our website. A heartfelt thank you to all who jumped in and helped clear roads, driveways, and property. Our supervisors diligently worked overtime to coordinate quick cleanup of our roads, and we hope that you were all able to travel safely on them.

And now on to our newsletter. This month's comes from our Planning and Zoning chair, Kent.

---

Greetings fellow Turtle River Township citizens, my name is Kent Porter.  I am the new Planning and Zoning Chair for the township. I have been on the committee since moving back to the area in 2021. We have a committee of five members and volunteer citizens who review all building permits and anything related to construction within the township.

We provide this service to you as a way to protect you from building something out of code.  The township over the years has developed a standard for any structure built or wanting to be built.  Our main job is to review your land use requests and make sure they comply with our existing regulations.

If you plan to build or construct anything, please don't hesitate to reach out to me and I will get you the answers as quickly as possible.  If you would like to review our code for yourself, it can be found at: Policies & Zoning

If you are interested in attending any Planning and Zoning meeting, our normal meeting times are the 1st Thursday of each month at 8:00 am at the township hall.
