Public Hearing + Newsletter
Happy December! We have a couple of important announcements for you today and, of course, our latest newsletter to keep everyone in the loop.
First of all, we are very excited about having a public hearing TODAY, December 1st at 4:00pm, regarding Little Bass Lake Road. If you are able, please join us! We'd love to have you!
However, letters inviting township landowners to this December 1 public hearing were delayed in mailing by our vendor. We apologize for this inconvenience. At our December board meeting, we will discuss setting a new date to repeat the hearing. The December 1 hearing will still be held, as the township has legally posted and published the required notices.
If you know of anyone in our township who might value the above information, please inform them. We have posted it on social media and our website, but we always appreciate help in spreading the word.
And with that, let's dive into our December newsletter, brought to you by Joe, one of our board supervisors.

Greetings neighbors,
I have been asked to write a few words for this edition of the newsletter, though I have been at a loss of what I could offer for this publication for some time. As your township representative to the Bemidji Rural Animal Control Organization, I could write about the importance of keeping your pets safe, vaccinated, tagged, and under control. But there has been no real need to remind our residents of that, as we have very few instances requiring animal control in our township.
As a landowner on Little Bass Lake Road, I could write about the status of this road. Although, at this time Rita, our roads supervisor, has presented very viable options to the board, which will be discussed at our public hearing today, December 1st at 4:00pm (and a future public hearing for those who cannot attend but would like to; see above for more info). I could also mention how important it is that we all remain vigilant and alert on our township roads for trees and limbs that will continue to fall. Or I could write about the importance of keeping our Right-of-Ways and ditches clear from all of the debris as we move into the plowing season.
Writing as a resident, I can only compliment our township board and all those neighbors that came together after the storm in June. Having lived in Florida for a couple of decades and experiencing a few large storms, I can say that the local authorities and the residents here did an absolutely remarkable job of response, recovery and cleanup. Something that I believe we can all take pride in. That's just one instance of how life here is so good. My family and I are very happy to have settled in Turtle River, surrounded by great neighbors and a quiet life.
Thank you for being our neighbors.
Joe Bungart
Turtle River Township Supervisor
