October Newsletter: Right Of Way
Hello all Turtle River Township residents!
This is the best time of year in my opinion. We hopefully get a second, and maybe even a third summer as we transition to the fall. The lakes are quiet, fish are usually cooperative, and the animals that we enjoy are very busy preparing for the winter.
We all are aware of the storm that hit the Bemidji area and Greater Bemidji area at the end of June. I am proud to be a part of our township and to have been a part of the responses and conversations that took place to aid in cleanup. It really was a privilege to work with residents that came together with a common purpose. It was stressful, and still is, but everyday it gets a little more manageable.
As a township board member, one of my tasks is to try and maintain the rights of way (ROW), and we know it has been an extreme task this summer with the storm debris alongside our roads. We have collaborated as a board, and we believe our plan is starting to show great results, slowly but surely.
Our ask, especially now that the mowers have gone by most of the township is this: ONE BIG PUSH!!
As Coach, Bob Peters would say, "Time to separate the pretenders from the contenders!" PLEASE help out your township with your immediate yard area ROW clean-up. That branch you have driven by maybe a hundred times, please stop and throw it back. If we all do this just a handful of times, it will go a long way to get our ROWs a little better and cleaner. Many hands make light work! Remember, no ROW is SAFE because we can't see everything that is in the ROW. Please be safe!!
Our roads and rights of way are important to us, and also a huge task to maintain. We have done incredibly well as a township and I couldn't be more proud, The board thanks you all! Thank you for being great residents of the BEST township in Beltrami County!
